During times that feel deeply uncertain, I always return to my paints.
The songs of ancestors seem to guide each and every brush stroke, as I dedicate my soul to this practice.
This piece, in particular, holds a different kind of special meaning to me. Every time I look at it I am brought deep waves of remembrance, as well as an energized sense of calmness.
The colors speak to the subtle nuances of my spirit, and the movement of each line is like a note of a song in my heart.
Creating art, first and foremost, is simply my “pressure valve.” I do it because MY heart and soul need to release.
The fact that people then desire to purchase a piece of my heart and artwork is simply an added bonus, however, the gratitude around this fact runs DEEP.
To know that my creations feed my family, put a roof over our heads, and support our basic needs and then some is nothing short of a miracle to me.
However, I also believe that miracles are common, they are the natural state of the universe, and they are meant for everyone.
